Combined CommunityAction’s “Meals on Wheels,” located in the Civic Center, serves frozen congregate meals or frozen meals to the homebound. Please call 979-743-4036 two weeks in advance for the meals, which will be delivered to the homebound or may be picked up at the center on Mondays.

KJT supports priests and seminarians

The Catholic Union of Texas (KJT), represented by Margaret Hanslik (left), state director, recently presented two checks to Bishop Brendan Cahill (right). One was $5,400 for the priest and religious retirement fund for the Diocese of Victoria, and the other was $3,150 lor the seminarian education fund for the diocese.

Second Chance donates to Texas Quilt Museum

Second Chance Emporium (SCE) recently donated $4,500 to the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange. Monies donated will be used to purchase sewing machines, sewing tables, irons and ironing boards, starter packs of fabric, threads, etc. Funds will also be used for quilt camps for youth and for quilt classes for beginners. The organization’s mission is to educate and raise awareness of the importance of women’s contributions to history, art and culture through antique and contemporary quilts; and to usher in a new legacy of quilt artists through educational programs for all ages.
