Animal Shelter volunteer appreciation event slated

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will host a volunteer appreciation event on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange (across the street from the shelter).

The Gardenia E. JanssenAnimal Shelter hours of operation are as follows: open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations.On Monday, the shelter is closed to the public but staff is on-site for animal care from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At the Easter vigil Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Saturday, April 4, six people received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist, with Fr. Luke Prihoda celebrating the Mass and administering the rites.

Local Food Pantry serves 127 families in March

The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry served 127 families in March with a total of 410 individuals. The Pantry had four new clients with 16 individuals in those families. The amount of food given out was 7,228 pounds. Food donated was 2,283 pounds. Volunteer hours were 278.
