Elsie B. Friedrich

Elsie B. Friedrich of Freyburg passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Wesleyan at Scenic nursing home in Georgetown after a five-year illness. She reached the age of 92 years, 6 months.

The funeral was held on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Schulenburg. Rev. Bert Bronaugh officiated, and burial took place in the Schulenburg City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Dittrich, family friend; David Mueller, godson; Dwayne Friedrich, godson; Mark Vecera, family friend; Rodney Blaschke, nephew; and David Kubos, nephew.

Born in High Hill on Aug. 15, 1920, she was the daughter of Alois and Mary Boehm Blaschke. The attended Swiss Alp School through the fourth grade. On Sept. 14, 1940, she married Herbert Friedrich at the family farm in Freyburg. Mrs. Friedrich was a farmer and housewife. She was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Schulenburg, Young Farmers and Texas Farm Bureau.

Survivors include a daughter, Jenny Lloyd and husband Dan of Jacksonville, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Friedrich of Flatonia; three sisters, Viola Genzer of Spring, Adela Kubos of Schulenburg and Lillian Schwenke of Schulenburg; a brother, Herbert Blaschke of Flatonia; six grandchildren, Deborah Hickenbottom and husband Richard of Georgetown, Danny Lloyd of Jacksonville, Ark., Wade Friedrich and wife Brenda of Flatonia, Kay Lynn Rothbauer and husband Toby of Gonzales, Melissa Towb and husband Eliot of Austin, and Corey Hall and wife Renee of Taylor; and five great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Hickenbottom, Brooke Friedrich, Tiffany Friedrich, Courtney Hall and Blake Hall.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; two sons, Melvin Friedrich and Calvin Friedrich; two sisters, Mary Narendorf of San Antonio and Alma Jurena of Schulenburg; and three brothers, Edgar Blaschke of Schulenburg, Leo Blaschke of Hallettsville and Erwin Blaschke of Bastrop.

Memorials in her honor may be made to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Schulenburg or Wesleyan at Scenic, 2001 Scenic Drive, Georgetown, TX 78626.
