Flores, Landry to perform at 12th anniversary Opry
The Fayette County Country Music Opry will observe its 12th anniversary at the montly Opry on Monday, Feb. 18 at the KC Hall in La Grange. The show will start at 7:30 p.m. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $5.
There will be two performers, as follows:
•Bobby Flores, who has been performing in Texas dance halls since he was 9. He has performed on Austin City Limits, The Grand Ole Opry and TNN Prime Time, and at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and numerous Willie Nelson 4th of July picnics. He was featured on CMT's “Stars Over Texas” with Vince Gill and Dolly Parton. He is currently featured on the new Tru-Country Show on the RFD-TV channel. Flores has also been inducted into the “Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame.” He has been featured on over 400 albums, CDs and singles. Currently, Flores has eight CDs available and his music can be heard daily on Sirius/XM Willie’s Roadhouse and other country radio stations. Flores and his Yellow Rose Band perform frequently in Texas, at the national level and recently performed at the Country Rendez-Vous Festival in Craponhne-Sur-Arzon, France.
•Wade Benson Landry, a native cajun from Abbeville, La. At age 10, he began performing in front of live audiences in his father’s band. He started playing the fiddle at age 13 and by age 18, had won the title of Louisiana Junior State Champion Fiddler twice. He was a featured performer with Jimmy C. Newman, The Oak Ridge Boys, George Jones and Tammy Wynette and most recently as a member of the Statesiders Band with legendary performer Mel Tillis. He makes his home in Branson, Mo. and he is the headliner for the only cajun swing show in Branson. Landry was named fiddle player of the year for 2009 and 2010 by the F.A.M.E.
