Lazaro Cardenas, 82, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin.

Raymond Charles Miller passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Feb. 13,2023 at 1:30 p.m.

Arnold August Janda, 86, of La Grange, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023.

Erwin James Kobza, 84, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 12 at Hallettsville Nursing & Rehab Center.

Timothy (Tim) Shimek of Moravia passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 at this home with his family at his side at the age of 63.

Roger Allen Holub, 54, of Houston, died at Park Plaza Hospital due to heart surgery complications on Thursday, Feb. 2.

The family of James Prihoda would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown to us during James’ illness and death. Your kindness and generosity through visits, prayers, cards, flowers, mass offerings, donations, food and other expressions of sympathy were a great comfort to us. We also send our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to those who attended the visitation, rosary and funeral. Special thanks go out to Father Jasper, Deacon Jay, Deacon Luke, David Hollas, Bernard Gabler, Denise Trojacek and the High Hill Choir for the beautiful funeral service; and, to the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Knights, and the St. Joseph’s Society for the honor they bestowed by their participation. To the St. Anne’s Society who set up and cleaned the hall, and provided desserts for the funeral luncheon, to Koopmann Catering for the delicious meal, to the Flower Box for the lovely flower arrangements, to Schulenburg Printing for the quick turnaround on the funeral programs, and to Bryan and Mark Klesel and the staff of Schwenke Baumgarten Funeral Home – thank you all for your time, compassion, and caring support that took such a burden off our shoulders. We are also grateful to Dr. Thomas Borgstedte and his staff, and the doctors and staff of Austin Oncology, Advanced Home Health Services, and Hospice Brazos Valley for the professional care and compassion given to James during his illness.

Heaven gained one of the kindest, sweetest, funniest women on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, as Evelyn Besetzny Kusy went to claim her heavenly reward.
