All four seniors on the Schulenburg High School volleyball team this year were selected to receive the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s fifth annual Best and Brightest Award.Honoring senior student-athletes, it recognizes those who excel on and off the court.

St. Rose ends season with 32-22 win

In a battle of Cardinals, St. Rose hosted Shiner St. Ludmila to close out the season and came away with an exciting 32-22 victory.While the second half featured big momentum swings, the first half was all about the defenses. St. Rose kicked off and quickly got a sack by Bryson Ohnheiser.

Lady Horns come through with clutch five-set wins to claim another title

Heading into their final two district matches last week, the Lady Horns needed to take down the teams with which they were tied atop the standings to earn a sixth straight championship.

SHS runners compete at regional meet

Three Schulenburg High School cross country runners traveled to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Tuesday, Oct. 21 for the Region IV-2A meet.Results for the Lady Horns in the two-mile race were:•EllieHammack – 43rd (14:34.75);• Anna Maria Granados – 84th (15:55.41);• Michaela Kollmann – 102nd (16:40.85).

Horns travel to Danbury on Friday

Schulenburg will make the twohour, 15-minute trip to Danbury this Friday, Oct. 31 to take on the 3-5 Panthers. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.After going 3-1 in non-district games, Danbury has yet to post a win against District 15-2A Division I opponents.

Sacred Heart downs St. Rose 42-20

The St. Rose Cardinals traveled to Hallettsville and fell to the Sacred Heart Braves 42-20.St. Rose received the opening kickoff and needed only three plays to score, getting a 54-yard touchdown pass from Cal Schiffli to Austin Reeves.
