Meeting held in La Grange to prepare for MS 150

Law enforcement and emergency management personnel met March 11 in La Grange to discuss the annual MS 150 ride that traverses several area counties. The 40th annual MS 150 will have starts in Houston and Austin with all riders ending up in La Grange at the Fayette County Fairgrounds for the first night. The ride is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28.

Winedale to host ‘Birth of Texas Navy’ talk via Zoom

Winedale Historic Site will host an online talk, “Birth of a Navy: Samuel Rhoads Fisher, Founding Father of the Texas Navy,” on Tuesday, April 2 at noon. Dallam Masterson and Admiral Beth Fisher will speak about the creation of the Texas Navy and the role their ancestor, Samuel Rhoads Fisher, played in the process.

March sales tax allocations issued

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday, March 6 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $980.9 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 2.2 percent less than in March 2023.
