Aldermen OK agreement to join task force

Traffic stop in Schulenburg results in marijuana arrest

AWaelder man was arrested on marijuana charges following a traffic stop in Schulenburg on Tuesday, March 19, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek. Sheriff Korenek reported that around 10:45 p.m., while on patrol, Deputy Ty Roggenkamp stopped a 2022 Buick passenger car for a traffic violation on Highway 90 westbound near Meadow Creek Drive in the west part of Schulenburg.

April proclaimed Autism Acceptance Month in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation declaring April as Autism Acceptance Month in Fayette County at its regular meeting on Thursday, March 14. Turtle Wing Foundation Executive Director Destiny Siptak was on hand to accept the proclamation. She said that, in the past year, Turtle Wing has paid for over 10,000 sessions in services and, in the last five years, Turtle Wing has funded over $1 million in direct services in Fayette, Lavaca, and Colorado counties. Siptak said that Turtle Wing started with autism but now serves all learning disabilities.

Co. EMS deployed to wildfire task force in Ozona

EMS Director Josh Vandever informed the Fayette County Commissioners Court at its meeting on Thursday, March 14 that a County ambulance and personnel were stationed in Ozona since March 11 as part of a Texas A&M Forest Service and Texas Emergency Medical Task Force.
