Betty Stoner Jurena of Moulton passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2020 in Austin at age 58 years, 3 months, 2 days.

The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg, with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Interment took place in the Schulenburg City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob Hansen, Clayton Stoner, Scott Stoner, Paul Podhajsky, Eric Kalmus and Kendall Kalmus. Named as honorary pallbearers were Ashley Krecmer, Becky Kessel, Samantha Niskern, Tessa Oncken and Annie Stoner.

She was born on June 1, 1962 in Portsmouth, Va., to Robert and Maxine (Dieringer) Stoner. She attended Schulenburg High School, Zelda L. Allen School of Nursing and the University of Houston-Victoria campus, earning a bachelor of science in nursing. On Nov. 28, 1998, she married Steven Jurena at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg. A Registered Nurse, she worked as a case manager for United Health Care. She was an avid Schulenburg Shorthorn and Lady Shorthorn fan, and a member of First Baptist Church of Schulenburg.

Survivors include her mother, Maxine Stoner of Schulenburg; her husband, Steven Jurena of Moulton; a son, Jordan Jurena of Moulton; two sisters, Dinah Hansen and husband Keith of Schulenburg, and Helen Krecmer and husband Mike of La Grange; and a brother, Howard Stoner and wife Carmen of Schulenburg.

Her father, Robert Stoner, preceded her in death.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
