Kathryn Otheta McFarlin Hollabaugh, 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday evening, May 17, 2020, at her son’s home in Victoria. She was a Schulenburg High School graduate of the class of 1955, where she was a band majorette her senior year.

Born Aug. 6, 1937, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hollabaugh; her mother, June McFarlin; her father, Elbert McFarlin; and six siblings, Johnny Lee McFarlin, Urah McFarlin Johnson, Sidney Buford McFarlin, Imogene McFarlin McClay, Mahlon McFarlin and Howard McFarlin.

Kathryn is survived by her son, Billy Hollabaugh, his wife Sarah, and their son Dresden; and her daughter, Cindy Mancuso, her husband Nick, their two children Josh Mancuso and Casey Mancuso Calloway, her husband Josh, and their two boys, Hendrix and Booker, Kathryn’s grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, all graduates of Schulenburg High, Ouida McFarlin Mitchell, Betty McFarlin Brock, Edwina McFarlin Hutsell and Janice McFarlin Vassigh; and her numerous nieces, nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Known to many as “Kitty” with the brilliant auburn hair and green eyes, she worked as a legal secretary in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston, where she resided 38 years until 2002, when she moved to Cleveland, Texas until July 2019. She is remembered for her creative home decorations and hosting social gatherings. Her intense love for the Lord, memorization of the Holy Scriptures, and being a fervent prayer warrior stood out monumentally to her family and friends.

Following a devastating auto accident in May of 2009, Kathryn was hospitalized numerous times and then spent many months each year in rehab hospitals and assisted living centers. Her numerous caretakers were drawn in by her warm smile and love for people, often finding themselves engaged in a mini Bible study or prayer sessions for themselves and their families. Kathryn, “Kitty,” will be greatly missed by all.
