First Baptist Church Trunk-or-Treat Drive-Thru

A Trunk-or-Treat drive-thru will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church parking lot. Those wishing to participate should stay in their vehicles and drive through the parking lot to see the decorated cars and trucks, and they will be given their bags of goodies upon exiting. 

Wright’s Park Fundraiser Dinner

A drive-thru fundraiser dinner for Wright’s Park will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1005 Kallus St. in Schulenburg. 

The meal will include chicken spaghetti with two sides, or six fried chicken wings with two sides. Sides are loaded mashed potato, southern green beans or sweet corn. Cost is $10 per plate, with all proceeds going toward Wright’s Park rebuilding.

Daylight Saving Time Ends

Daylight saving time will end on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 2 a.m. Clocks should be set back one hour.

St. Rose Altar Society/Catholic Daughters Stew Dinner

A drive-thru stew dinner benefitting the St. Rose Altar Society and Catholic Daughters Court St. Rose 1597 will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the KC Hall. Cost will be $10 per meal, which will include stew served with bread, crackers and dessert.

Citizen of the Year and Employee of the Year Nominations

The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for Citizen of the Year and Employee of the Year. For a nomination form, contact the Chamber at 979-743-4514 or schulenburgchamber@cvctx.com. Deadline for nominations is Friday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.

Christmas Photo Sessions benefitting St. Rose School

Christmas photo mini-sessions will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7 and  Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14-15 at Jack & Mary’s, 610 Lyons Ave. The sessions will be done by A Thousand Words Photography. 

The cost will be $79 for a 20-minute session, with digital prints arriving in three days.

Weimar KC Barbecue Pork Loin Dinner

Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will serve a drive-thru dinner with barbecue pork loin and sides on Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Family Center in Weimar. The meal is being catered by Mikeska’s.

St. Rose HSA Veterans Day Dinner on Nov. 8

The St. Rose HSA will hold a drive-thru-only Veterans Day dinner on Sunday, Nov. 8  at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St., starting at 10 a.m. 

The plates ($10 each/no tickets necessary) will include three pieces of picnic-style fried chicken, buttered potatoes, green beans, pickles and cookie. 

Hallettsville Sacred Heart Band Tamale Sale

The Hallettsville Sacred Heart band is selling tamales from Delicious Tamales of San Antonio, which has been providing them for 18 years.  Cost is $11 for a dozen regular, $11 for a dozen jalapeno and $12 for a dozen chicken. Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley ‘Taste of Columbus’

“Taste of Columbus” will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on the Courthouse Square in downtown Columbus to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley. The event features local chef teams competing for Best Appetizer and Best Dessert. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and under.

Free English Class at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 110 North Upton, Schulenburg will be teaching a free English class every Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. In addition, bilingual story time will be held from 7 to 7:30 p.m.
