Bird enthusiast submits photos

John C. Landa Jr., “The Schulenbirder,” took the left two photos after sunrise on Saturday, Oct 3. The top photo is a Lark Sparrow and the bottom is an Eastern Bluebird. The Eastern Bluebird went nearly extinct in the early 1900s, but is quite common to the area now. The Lark Sparrow usually feeds on the ground and flies up into trees when disturbed. It is also here year-round. Both photos were taken off Baumgarten Road, southeast of Schulenburg.
