Alvin Berger Jr., 78, of Houston, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in Houston.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, June 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Matt Berger, Travis Berger and Patrick Berger, nephews; David Harrelson; and Douglas Berger and Harlan Berger, brothers.
Rosary was recited at 9:30 a.m. at the church on Wednesday, June 17.
Born in Weimar on June 5, 1941, he was the son of Alvin Sr. and Frieda Berger. He attended Bishop Forest High School. On Nov. 10, 1968, he married Maxine Svetlik in Harris County. He served in the Army Reserves and worked as a machinist for West Tec.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Berger; a daughter, Denise Hartman and husband Wade of Victoria; a son, Jeff Berger and wife Jessica of Houston; a sister, Marilyn Mares and husband Frank of Schulenburg; a sister-in-law, Carol Berger of Schulenburg; three brothers, Harlan Berger and wife Beth of Houston; Clinton Berger and wife Betty of Kansas, and Douglas Berger and wife Sheryl of Weimar; and four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Eugene Berger.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
