Eddie Vrana, 91, of Yoakum, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 4 a.m.
Graveside service was held at the Moravia Catholic Cemetery on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at 2 p.m. Officiating was Rev. John C. Peters of St. Mary’s Church near Hallettsville. Pallbearers were Dale Vrana, Bruce Vrana, Tommy Little and Allan Bruns.
Born on May 8, 1928 at Moravia, he was the son of Emil and Albina (Peter) Vrana. Eddie graduated from Moravia High School 1945. He studied diesel engines in Chicago, then worked with his dad on the farm and cotton gin until he took over the business. On June 16, 1947, Eddie married Frances Rosalie Vornsand (deceased). The Vrana family operated Vrana Gin in Moravia for over 50 years. Eddie and Frances worked the farm and cotton gin until the gin closed in 1969. Eddie started a water well pump sales and service when the gin closed. His sons, Dale and Bruce, entered the business with their dad in their teens and continue Vrana Well Service today.
Survivors include his two sons, Bruce Vrana and spouse Zo of Moravia, and Dale Vrana and spouse Claudia of Weimar; a sister, Ollie Pospisil, 97, residing at Regency Nursing Center, Schulenburg; and two grandchildren, Ty Vrana of Richwood and Reid Vrana of Austin.
On Oct. 18, 1997, at St. Mary’s Church near Hallettsville, Eddie married Agnes “Dot” Little who also survives him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Rosalie in 1994.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
