Erwin G. Matura, 76, of Ammannsville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ammannsville, with Fr. Tim Kosler officiating. Interment took place in the Dubina Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were son-in-law Darren Bartek of Sealy, and nephews Thomas Meyer of Schulenburg, Ernie Matura of Ammannsville, Roger Zwahr of Needville, Bradley Machicek of Boerne and Bobby Joe Hartensteiner of Sugar Land. Named as honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Laci Ondruch, Clay Bartek, Jenna Matura and Colton Matura.
Rosary was said on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home, led by Kevin Kana.
Born at Dubina on Nov. 21, 1942, he was the son of Henry and Vlasta (Valicek) Matura. On April 8, 1972, he married Betty Bednarski at Sugar Land. He worked as a milk plant supervisor at Oak Farms.
Survivors include a daughter, Roxanne Bartek and husband Darren of Sealy; a son, Walter Matura and wife Virginia of Ammannsville; three sisters, Evelyn Meyer of Schulenburg, Gladys Machicek of Schulenburg and Edith Hartensteiner of Sugar Land; two brothers, Eugene Matura and wife Regina of Katy, and Ernest Matura of Dubina; and four grandchildren, Laci Ondruch, Clay Bartek, Jenna Matura and Colton Matura.
Preceding him in death were his parents; Henry and Vlasta Matura; wife, Betty Matura; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Sandy Zwahr; brothers-in-law, Tommy Meyer, David Hartensteiner and Jerry Machicek; and sister-in-law, Suzanne Matura.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
