Helmuth L. Schuetze, 92, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019 in Columbus.
Helmuth was born on Feb. 7, 1927 in Freyburg. He attended Abbotts Grove School in Freyburg. Helmuth helped his parents on the farm until he went into the Army in May 1945. He was discharged in August 1949. He then moved to Houston and worked at several jobs until becoming a car mechanic by trade. He married Pearly Richter in 1953. They were blessed with twins in 1963. Pearly went to be with Jesus in April 1988. In 1996, he married Bernice Richter. Helmuth loved his Lord and Savior.
Helmuth is survived by his wife, Bernice Schuetze; daughter, Renee Louise Thomason and husband Brad; son, Randy Carl Schuetze and wife Michelle; step-sons, Rick Richter and wife Lori, Dennis Richter and wife Jackie, and James Richter and wife Valenda; grandchildren (who lovingly call him Popo), Colin Schuetze, Nathan Schuetze and Mathew Thomason; step-grandchildren (who lovingly call him Grandpa), Case Richter, Seth Richter, Hannah Richter, Purity Richter, Nadia Rubens and Brandy May; and step-great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Graham, Raylee Graham, Jacob Tread-way and Rayne Michaels.
Helmuth was preceded in death by his first wife, Pearly Mae Schuetze, and step-son, Kenneth Richter.
The funeral was held at Heights Funeral Home in Houston on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m., officiated by Pastor David Cecil.
