Marvin C. Zemlicka, 82, of Houston, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at 12:15 pm.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Houston, with Fr. Thu officiating. Interment took place in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Praha. Pallbearers were Steve Floyd, Clinton Guentert, Patrick Maslowski, Trent McDaniel, Phil Smith and Christopher Zemlicka. Named as honorary pallbearers were Milton Dittrich, Dennis Dusek, David Heger, Nathan Heger, Herman Popp and Cooper Smith.
Rosary was said on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 at Forest Park East in Webster, led by Darryl Kalich.
Born on July 22, 1937 in Fayette County, he was the son of Emil and Gabriella (Krhovjak) Zemlicka. He graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1955. On July 31, 1960, he married Ann Jasek at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha. After working for Houston Lighting & Power for 39 years, he retired in 1995. He had a passion for farming, deer hunting and the Dallas Cowboys. For 42 consecutive years, Marvin and Ann attended Cowboys football games on Thanksgiving Day.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Zemlicka of Houston; a son, Brian Zemlicka and wife Leslee of Huntsville; a daughter, Sara Smith and husband Terry of Manvel; three sisters, Jeanette McDaniel, Marilyn Floyd and Jo Ann Zemlicka; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
His parents preceded him in death.
