Walter W. Ripper, 80, of Schulenburg, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 in a Georgetown hospital.
Graveside services held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Weimar, with Rev. Tim Kosler of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg officiating. Pallbearers were Mark Ripper, David Ripper, Dustin Herzik, Justin Rosenauer, Mark Klesel and Bryan Klesel. Named as honorary pallbearer was Charlie Ripper of La Grange, brother.
Rosary was said at 9:30 a.m. on May 5 at the cemetery, led by Rev. Kosler.
Born in Schulenburg on July 15 1939, he was the son of Anton and Sophie (Oeltjendiers) Ripper. He attended St. Rose School and Schulenburg ISD. On Jan. 7, 1961, he married Annie Mae Korenek in Weimar. He served in the National Guard. A lifelong resident of Fayette County, his occupation was being a steel worker.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Mae Ripper; a daughter, Judy Kubenka of Schulenburg; two sons, Mark Ripper and David Ripper, both of Weimar; a sister, Evelyn Ripper of Schulenburg; a brother, Charlie Ripper of La Grange; two grandchildren, Chelsea Kubenka and fiance Justin Rosenauer of Weimar, and Caitlyn Herzik and husband Dustin of Weimar; and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Steven Herzik.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers, Alfred, Tony, Martin, Bennie and Ervin Ripper; and three sisters, Susie Ripper, Olga Trojacek and Dorothy Ripper.
Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
