  • LUCK MONUMENT – Monument for Carl Philipp “Charles” Luck (1831-1907) and wife Margareta Elisabetha (Oeding) Luck (1847-1929) located in the Black Jack Springs Cemetery. Charles was the son of Johann Philipp Luck and Phillipine Theiss Luck. He donated land for the Luck’s Country School and was an ancestor of the five Luck family members accepted as life members of the Sons of the Republic of Texas.

Aug. 15, 2020, during the days of the COVID-19 pandemic, marked the day that three generations of the Luck family collectively applied to become life members of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, and Oct. 16 was the day each received notice from SRT president general Kenneth W.
