John C. Landa Jr., “The Schulenbirder,” took the first two photos after sunrise on Saturday, Oct 3. The Eastern Bluebird went nearly extinct in the early 1900s, but is quite common to the area now. The Lark Sparrow usually feeds on the ground and flies up into trees when disturbed. It is also here year-round. Both photos were taken off Baumgarten Road, southeast of Schulenburg.
