Turtle Wing Monster Dash

The eighth annual Turtle Wing Monster Dash will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jack & Mary’s, 610 Lyons Ave., and Anderson Street just south its yard.  There is no charge for any of the activities.

There will also be a costume contest, silent auction, Monster Dash, performance by On Pointe students, music, concessions, etc.

Knights of Columbus Turkey Festival

The annual Schulenburg KCs Turkey Festival will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18 at the KC Hall. A drive-thru-only meal, starting at 10:30 a.m., will include chicken fried chicken breast, sausage, dressing, broccoli medley with cheese, cranberries and gravy. Cost will be $10 per plate. 

Leftover dressing will be available first-come, first-served starting at 1 p.m. in the dining room hall (no call-in orders). Front doors will be locked until 1 p.m. 

St. Rose Home & School Association Gumbo Dinner To-Go

A dinner featuring chicken, sausage and okra gumbo served over rice with cornbread will be held by the St. Rose Home & School Association on Friday, Oct. 23 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the KC Hall. Cost will be $10 per plate (presale tickets are highly recommended). For tickets, contact any St. Rose student or Angela Norman at 979-309-9996.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley ‘Taste of Columbus’

“Taste of Columbus” will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on the Courthouse Square in downtown Columbus to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley. The event features local chef teams competing for Best Appetizer and Best Dessert. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and under.

Free English Class at First Baptist Church

First Baptist Church, 110 North Upton, Schulenburg will be teaching a free English class every Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. In addition, bilingual story time will be held from 7 to 7:30 p.m.
