Eastern Meadowlarks

John C. Landa Jr., a/k/a “The Schulenbirder,” submitted these two shots of Eastern Meadowlarks, taken Sunday, Nov. 22 off Steiber Road southwest of Schulenburg. The Schulenburg area sees both Eastern and Western Meadowlarks, which are very similar in appearance, but the Eastern is more common here. Though these two were photographed perching, they often flock in grasslands.
