Leopold, Cummins pledge vows in Hallettsville


Brooke Allasyn Leopold and Jason John Cummins of Hallettsville were united in marriage at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville. Monsignor John Peters officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Allan and Mary Leopold of Hallettsville. She is the granddaughter of Bohumir and Mary Ann Pustejovsky and Florice Leopold and the late Alois A. Leopold, all of Hallettsville.

The groom is the son of David and Connie Shimek of La Grange, and Troy and Kim Cummins of Massilon, Ohio. He is the grandson of Frances Vacek and the late L.J. Vacek of Schulenburg, and Rose Cummins and the late Jerry Cummins of Naples, Florida.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a designer gown by Essense of Australia. The gown featured a sweetheart V-neckline highlighted with a romantic beaded lace sheer bodice. The long sleeves of illusion and lace extended to the wrist with fabric covered buttons. The back of the gown is adorned with delicate beaded lace and fabric covered buttons down to the sleek crepe skirt with lace detail on the cut-out heirloom inspired cathedral train. She wore a light ivory tulle veil and ivory satin with jeweled rhinestones, ankle strapped, pointed toe flats. The bride completed her look with Kendra Scott gold, ivory stone stud earrings.

Paige Winter, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Whitney Rainosek, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Kellan Mikulenka, cousin of the bride; and Serena Stein, Bailey Sevcik, Amarae Anders, Emilie Walker, Kadee Bludau, Morgan Teltschik and Callie Kresta, all friends of the bride. Kennedy Mikulenka, second cousin of the bride, served as flower girl.

T.J. Cummins, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jaret Cummins and Alec Cummins, brothers of the groom; Reid Leopold, brother of the bride; Trent Winter, brother-in-law of the bride and groom; and Brandon Anders, friend of the groom. Nathan Vacek, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Serving as witnesses were Brenda Mitchon and Brian Leopold, godmother and godfather of the bride, and Roland Vacek and Jesse Vacek, uncles of the groom.

Serving as ushers were Hunter Mitchon and Lane Leopold, cousins of the bride, and Kaine Warnken and Blane Warnken, cousins of the groom. Lectors were Brenda Mitchon, aunt of the bride, and Denise Aziz, second cousin of the groom. John Vacek and Jacob Vacek presented the offertory gifts and the Eucharistic ministers were Carol Pustejovsky and Steven Leopold, aunt and uncle of the bride. The beautiful church music was provided by Brian Klekar, cousin of the bride, and John Dujka.

A reception, dinner and dance were held following the ceremony at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville. Lisa Berckenhoff Catering and Crew served a delicious meal of chicken fried steak with brown and cream gravy, twice-baked potatoes, seasoned green beans, homemade rolls and tea. The evening DJ music was provided by Art Hernandez with Hernandez Entertainment LLC, and Monte and Arleen Werner, uncle and aunt of the bride, led the grand march.

After honeymoon travel to Sandal’s Resort in Exuma, Bahamas, Brooke and Jason now reside in Hallettsville.

Brooke is a 2009 graduate of Hallettsville High School and a 2016 graduate of the University of Houston-Victoria with a bachelor of science in nursing degree. She is currently employed by Cuero Regional Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Jason is a 2007 graduate of Schulenburg High School and a 2013 graduate of Texas State University with a bachelor of science in technology degree with a major in engineering technology. He is currently employed by O’Day Instruments in Hallettsville as a control systems engineer.
