GROW WINGS 4-H

A new 4-H club, “Grow Wings Club,” has been formed in the area and its first meeting will be on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Turtle Wing Foundation office in Schulenburg at 723 Upton Ave.

Its purpose is to encourage more youth to join 4-H, especially those who may have learning challenges. The new club will provide unique and supported leadership and learning opportunities for members in Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties.

Youth in third grade through high school are welcome to join, but there will be no Clover Kids (children under age 8). The club is also open to youth over age 18 if they are still receiving special education services from their school.

If a child might benefit or be interested, parents are invited to come to the initial meeting to learn more. More information can also be obtained by contacting Susie Shank at 979-820-8964.

YOUNG FARMERS

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their monthly planning meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Schulenburg Expo Center.

The program will be “Mineral Fly Control” presented by Coastal Ag. The election of officers and executive board members will be held during the meeting as well.
