BGC members make ‘magic bubbles’

In the STEM program last week at the Schulenburg Unit of the Boys & Girls Club, members created “magic bubbles” using only dish soap, sugar and water. The water in bubbles usually evaporates quickly, which makes them pop faster.
In last year’s Emerging Artists Competition, Ella Knobloch was the first place winner in the 12th grade.

Emerging Artists Competition announced

Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) recognizes the artistic vision and talent of the community’s youth and invites young artists to showcase their creativity in this year’s Emerging Artists Competition.Students in grades 6-12 are invited to submit up to two original works of art.

Shorthorns Forever awards $3,574.40

Shorthorns ForeverAssociation awarded a total of $3,574.40 in May to staff at Schulenburg ISD, as follows:•Kristen Holub – $965 for PLTW (Project Lead The Way) curriculum, three kits: Animal Adaptations, Materials Science and Changing Earth.•Adina Barnett and Olajuwan Taylor – $799.

Weimar library sets program on dinosaurs

The Weimar Public Library will host the program “Dinosaurs or NOT?” on Monday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. Paleontologist Bethany Burke will be at the library to present dinosaur facts with real and replica fossils.
