Alfonso Martinez

Alfonso Martinez passed away surrounded by his loving wife, Maria, and children, on Monday, July 17, 2023.

He was born on Sept. 28, 1971 in Mexico to Alfonso Martinez and Maria Ventura Martinez.

After marrying the love of his life, Maria Elena Rodriguez in Mexico on June 8, 1990, he came to Schulenburg to start a new life with his new family. He worked his entire life out on the ranch doing a little of everything. From picking eggs to cattle to garden work, he did it all. Alfonso never met a stranger and when he did he made sure to leave with a new friend. He always made everyone laugh with his funny personality.

In his spare time he enjoyed being at home spending time with his family. If he wasn’t home, he could be found practicing his keyboard or on a stage somewhere showing off his skills with his band mates.

He is survived by his father, Alfonso Martinez of Mexico; wife, Maria; daughter, Juana; sons, Carlos (girlfriend Sydney), Angel Ivan, George, and Michael; one grandson, Jason; four brothers and three sisters from Mexico; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held from 9 to 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg on Friday, July 28, 2023. A Holy Rosary followed at 10 a.m. Funeral services began at 10:30 a.m. Burial was held at St. Rose Catholic Cemetery following services.
