Diana Faye Surman Clark, 69, of Schulenburg, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 in Victoria. She died of cancer after a 10-month illness. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Fr. Luke Prihoda officiating. Interment followed in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in High Hill, next to her maternal grandmother. Serving as pallbearers were nephews Shane Surman, Jason Buxkemper, Jared Surman, Levi Surman, Jake Surman, Aaron Kutac and Garrett Kutac. Named as honorary pallbearer was nephew Ryan Buxkemper.

Rosary was recited on Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home, led by Deacon John McCourt.

She was born in Houston on May 23, 1954, to Herbert and Gladys (Kloesel) Surman. She attended Assumption Catholic School in Houston, St. Mary’s School in Praha and Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg. She lived in Houston most of her adult life until moving to Schulenburg this past March. Diana worked as a clerk in the Harris County Courthouse as well as in sales and real estate. She was a member of the Catholic Church and National Association of Professional Women. She was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, to which she remained faithful for her last 14 years. Diana enjoyed cooking and treasured spending time with her mother and the rest of her family.

Survivors include her mother, Gladys Surman of Schulenburg; three sisters, Norma Buxkemper and husband Felix of Huntsville, Barbara Brown and husband Jim of Schulenburg, and Gladys Kutac and husband A.J. of St. John; and two brothers, Patrick Surman and wife Pam of Engle, and Mike Surman and wife Colette of Hostyn.

Preceding her in death were her father, Herbert Surman, and a sister, Beatrice Surman.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
