Kenneth J. Lev, 73, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 4:40 a.m. at Austin Heart in Austin.

Memorial services were held on Friday, April 21 at 10:30 a.m. St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Rev. Jasper Liggio officiating. Entombment followed in the St. Rose Catholic Mausoleum. The Schulenburg American Legion and Vietnam Veterans of America conducted full military honors. Rosary was led by Edward Kusy at 10 a.m. in the church, prior to the memorial service.

Born on May 31, 1949 at Shiner, he was the son of Johnnie and Vickie (Janek) Lev. He attended St. Rose School and graduated from Bishop Forest High School in 1967. He joined the Marines in 1967, and was wounded in Vietnam in March and June 1968, for which he received two Purple Hearts. He returned to the U.S. in July 1968 and finished his Marine Corps service at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in October 1969. During his lifetime, he worked in seismic exploration and for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. His favorite pastimes were going fishing with his friends, and also playing dominoes and the game of tarocks with friends or at tournaments.

Survivors include three sisters, Laurie Goedecker and husband Peter of Schulenburg, Agatha Fay and husband Kennie of Laramie, Wyoming, and Vicki Daraie and husband Ken of Denver, Colorado; one niece, Gretchen Goedecker; four nephews, Greg Goedecker, Justin Daraie, Jonathan Daraie and Justin Daraie; four great-nieces, Elena Goedecker, and Sofia, Liama and Nourio Daraie; and two great-nephews, Cooper Goedecker and Nico Daraie.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Johnnie and Vicki Lev of Schulenburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, St. Rose of Lima Catholic School or a charity of one’s choice.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
