Timothy (Tim) Shimek of Moravia passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023 at this home with his family at his side at the age of 63.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, George Shimek.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Shimek; his beloved wife of 43 years, Linda Shimek; children, Darren Shimek and wife Cassie, and Jenna Leihardt and husband Travis; siblings, brother Patrick Shimek and wife Donna, sister Pamela Thrash, brother Mark Shimek and wife Cynthia, and sister Sandra Plaisance and husband Brian; and grandchildren, Adriana Leihardt, Cameron Shimek and Tessa Leihardt. Tim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather “POPO,” son and brother.

Tim was born in Houston, but after graduation, Tim decided to leave Houston and move to the country permanently. A couple years later, Tim and Linda were married on Nov. 17, 1979, for a total of 43 years. They made Moravia their home. Tim and Linda have two children, Darren and Jenna, and three granddaughters, Adriana, Cameron and Tessa, whom he adored dearly. Tim cherished his family and loved spending time with them.

Once Tim moved to Moravia, he started working for Prototype and continued to work there until the day of his death – an amazing 45 years! During his tenure at Prototype, he made many, many lifelong friends.

During his lifetime Tim did many things. Tim was a passionate man, who loved and enjoyed a great deal of things: hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, his cows and own hay making. Tim had a dream of opening his own meat shop aka Shimek’s Smokehouse. He made sausage, smoked backstrap and his award winning “jerky” for many of his family and friends. Besides this he also had a great passion in cooking. If you know Tim, you know he was a fantastic cook and always insisted on preparing and cooking a delicious meal for anyone or any event.

“So, after his short and challenging battle with cancer, we know he is now rejoicing in Heaven. He probably insisted on cooking dinner for everyone as soon as he got there and was sure to throw out a ‘will it eat?’ as everyone took their first bite. And yes, Tim, it will eat and always did,” his family writes.
