Schulenburg 4-H Rack of Ribs Fundraiser

Tickets are on sale for the fourth annual rack of ribs fundraiser for the Schulenburg 4-H Club. Cost is $25 per ticket and the rack serves 3-4.

Pickup will be on Friday, April 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Market, which is preparing the ribs. Tickets are available from Schulelnburg 4-H members or by contacting the club manager at 979-249-7279.

‘Shifting Our Crowns – Focusing on our Physical & Mental Health’ 

BRIDGE will present “Shifting Our Crowns – Focusing on our Physical & Mental Health” on Saturday, April 27 at First Methodist Church, 209 North Upton Ave., from 1 to 3 p.m. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m.

Free lunch and swag bag will be provided for the first 50 registered attendees who arrive. Prior to the program, attendees can visit vendor booths.The program will focus on the connection between faith & mental health; access to mental health resources; engaging wellness activities; panel of health experts; and the opportunity to learn more about BRIDGE.

St. Michael, Weimar, Spring Festival

The St. Michael Catholic Church Spring Festival will be held Sunday, April 28 at Veterans Memorial Park in Weimar. A fried chicken/sausage dinner will be served at 11 a.m. for $12 per plate, with drive-thru takehome plates available at St. Michael Family Center.

Music will be provided by the Czechaholics, 11 a.m.; Mark Halata & Band, 2 p.m.; and The Blue Denim Band, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be an auction (1 p.m.), bingo (2-6 p.m.), antique/classic car show, mechanical bull, washer tourney (4 p.m.) country store, cake walk, treasure chest, kids’games (fish pond, train ride, plinko, etc.) and bounce house (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Hamburgers, cold drinks and snow cones will be available.

National Day of Prayer Observance at First Baptist Church 

On the 73rd annual National Day of Prayer,Thursday, May 2, First Baptist Church, 110 North Upton, will open its doors to anyone who wants to set aside time to pray earnestly for the community, nation and world.

Coffee and light breakfast will be served from 7 to 8 a.m. in the fellowship hall. At 8 a.m., Pastor David Thompson will lead a brief opening prayer. Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Mayfest at Hostyn

Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish at Hostyn will hold its Mayfest on Sunday, May 5 on the parish grounds. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A barbecue pork/sausage dinner with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. , with drive-thru plates-to-go from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost will be $14 per plate. Texas Sound Check and Czechaholics will provide music. There will also be an auction (1 p.m.), bingo (1:30 to 5:30 p.m.), silent auction, games, country store, cake/plant wheels and drawings. Hamburgers will be sold after 3 p.m.

Weimar KCs Chicken Fried Steak Dinner

The Weimar Knights of Columbus will serve a hand-battered chicken fried steak dinner with sides on Sunday, May 19 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the St. Mchael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. Cost is $13 each for the drive-thru-only plates.
