Weimar KCs Fried Catfish Dinners During Lent

Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will hold a drive-thru-only fried catfish dinner each Friday of Lent – March 1, March 8, March 15 and March 22 – from 5 to 7 p.m. or until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. Cost will be $13 per plate. The Catholic Daughters will be selling desserts.

Ammannsville KJT Building Fund Benefit Dinner

A barbecue chicken dinner benefitting the Ammannsville KJT building fund will be held on Sunday, March 3 starting at 11 a.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall.

The drive-thru-only plates will have half a barbecue chicken, potatoes & pinto beans and cost $13 each. There will be no advance sales and plates will be sold first-come, first-served.

Daylight Saving Time to Return on March 10

Daylight saving time will return on Sunday, March 10 at 2 a.m. Clocks should be set forward one hour.

Blood Drive at First Methodist Church

A blood drive will be held by the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center at the First Methodist Church of Schulenburg on Sunday, March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. Donors should bring their ID.

Donors are encouraged to eat and drink before giving blood. For more information or to make an appointment, contact Joanna Mensch at the church office at 979-743-3333. A promotion for the blood drive is a rodeo T-shirt (see ad on Section 1, Page 3). Donors are also encouraged to share their donation stories at @commitforlife and #commitforlife.

St. Rose Church Drive-Thru Spaghetti Dinner

St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church will have a drive-thru spaghetti dinner on Sunday, March 10 at the Schulenburg Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. or when all food is ready to serve (whichever comes first).

The plates will include a good portion of spaghetti, mound of spaghetti sauce, garlic bread and fresh Italian salad.The authentic Italian homemade spaghetti meat sauce will be made by Fr. Jasper Liggio and his brother Vincent Liggio.

Cost will be $12 per plate (no reservations necessary).

Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley ‘Best O’ Luck’ Bingo

The Boys & Girls Clubs of ChampionValley will host“Best O’Luck”bingo on Sunday, March 17 at The Oaks at High Hill near Schulenburg. Doors will open at 2 p.m. and bingo will be played from 3 to 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25 pre-sale and $30 that day. The ticket includes one bingo card; additional cards will be $5 each. Tickets are available at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley or by scanning the QR code in the ad in this week’s issue.

Lions Club Nontraditional Student Scholarship

The Schulenburg Lions Club is offering two nontraditional student scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc. Applicants must live in Schulenburg or work in Schulenburg and live in the surrounding area.

Applications are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 979-743-4514 or visiting the Chamber website. Applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.

Restitution Revival United invites everyone to church services with Pastor Sha-Ron Heslep every first Saturday and second Sunday at noon at 702 Hillje St in Schulenburg. All are welcome!
