Sacred Heart Band Tamale Sale

The Sacred Heart-Hallettsville band is holding a tamale sale from Thursday, Oct. 9 to Monday, Oct. 27. Cost is $12 for a dozen tamales and $10 for a quart of salsa. City-Wide Garage Sale

A city-wide garage sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1718. Maps will be available at the Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce office starting Wednesday, Oct. 15 and on its Facebook page.

Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum Fall Open House

The Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum in La Grange will hold a Heritage Fest & Muziky fall open house Oct. 17-18.

On Friday, Oct. 17, hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. with polka/waltz lessons for all ages at 5:30 p.m. and a special presentation, “Story of Frank’s Bar” by Virginia Leech, at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 18, hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with polka/waltz lessons for all ages at 11:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Gene Hackemack.

There will be refreshments and polka fun both days. In addition, organizers will be collecting toys, toiletries and non-perishable food items to support area holiday programs.

Knights of Columbus Turkey Dinner and Blood Drive

Knights of Columbus Council 2902 will hold its annual Turkey Fest on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Schulenburg Hall. Plates with baked turkey, dressing and three sides will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. or when food is ready. Cost is $15 each for the drive-thru-only plates. Any extra food will be sold inside the hall after 12:30 p.m.

In addition, a blood drive will be held by the South Texas Blood Bank from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the mobile unit in the hall parking lot. Each donor will receive a free meal donated by the KCs. For more information, contact Ed Kusy at 979-743-5879.

‘God Will Block Cancer’ at St. James Missionary Baptist Church 

St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 1103 James Ave., invites the public to “God Will Block Cancer” on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Inspiring testimonials will be given on how Jesus heals physically, mentally and spiritually. Guest speaker will be Rev. Matthew E. Bryant of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Victoria. Refreshments will be served. St. James MBC pastor is Andrew E. Stafford.

49th annual Weimar Firemen’s Dinner

The 49th annual dinner benefitting the Weimar Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26 atWeimarVeterans Memorial Hall. Drive-thru serving will start at 10:30 a.m. and serving in the hall will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Plates ($15 each) will include turkey, dressing, sausage and trimmings. An auction will be held at noon.

Zion Lutheran Church Stew Supper

The 33rd annual Zion Lutheran Church pre-deer season stew supper will be held Monday, Oct. 27 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran parking lot on Keuper St. The drive-thru-only meal will include stew, bread, crackers and dessert. The $12 tickets (presale only) are available at the church office or Sticker office.

Praise in the Park

Praise in the Park, presented by Community Friends & Neighbors, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wolters Park pavilion, 1103 Bohlmann Ave. Admission will be free and a complimentary hot dog meal combo will be served. All are invited to fellowship and worship Jesus together in the park.
