Weimar KCs Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will hold a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar. The plates ($15 each) will include hand-battered chicken fried steak, twice-baked potatoes and broccoli salad. Catholic Daughters will be selling desserts.
Led + Fed Free Community Meal
Led + Fed will host “community table” (a free community meal) on Monday, Sept. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Schulenburg Secondary School parking lot. All are invited for free food and fellowship.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Festival, Hostyn
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Hostyn, will hold its festival at the church grounds on Sunday, Oct. 4, celebrating the 195th anniversary of the first Mass at Hostyn. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A fried chicken/sausage meal with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a drive-thru line from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be $15 each. Hamburgers will be sold after 3 p.m.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m. There will be a country store, cake/ plant wheels, silent auction, games, jigsaw puzzle booth, balloon artist, R&R shaved ice, bingo (1:30 p.m.) and magic show (3 p.m.) Music will be provided by Czech Melody Masters (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Dujka Brothers (3:30 to 7 p.m.). Sacred Heart Parish-Flatonia Turkey & Dressing Dinner
Sacred Heart Parish in Flatonia will serve a turkey and dressing dinner on Sunday, Oct. 4 starting at 10:30 a.m. (dine-in or drive-thru).
Plates ($15 each) will include turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce and dessert. Serving inside the hall will continue until 1 p.m. Prior to the meal, Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Live music inside the hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. will be provided by Paden Mulholland. There will also be a drawing.
Schulenburg Area Food Pantry 30th Anniversary Celebration
The Schulenburg Area Food Pantry will hold its 30th anniversary celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 304 East Ave. All are invited and food and monetary donations are greatly appreciated.
Public Rosary Rally
The St. Anne Society and St. Joseph Society of St. Mary’s Parish-High Hill will host a public rosary rally on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at the downtown gazebo on North Main Street.
The rosary is centered on Our Lady of Fatima and Matthew 18:20, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst.”
St. Rose of Lima Turkey Shoot
St. Rose of Lima will host a turkey shoot on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Freyburg Hall starting at 1 p.m. For the turkey shoot, 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410 shotguns will be allowed, with ammo provided for 12- and 20-gauge but not for .410. Food/drinks will be available, including fajita wraps cooked by KC members for $4 each. Music will be furnished by the Matt Bonner Band. The Texas A&M vs. Missouri football game will be on the screen. There will also be sack races, pumpkin decorating and cornhole sponsored by KC members. All are invited for a fun-filled family day.
