Six Fayette County elementary schools recently received an illustrated book, Texas: Before the Lone Star, that will provide a valuable tool for teachers teaching about what was happening in Texas from the 1600s through just before the Battle of the Alamo.
The Smith-McMillan Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution made the donations as the school year draws to a close.
