Sr. Connections: gathering place for active seniors

Cindy Villarreal, executive director, and Amanda Kridel, director of marketing and development, had to admit that Senior Connections just did not have the numbers needed for the chartered bus trip, so it had to be cancelled.

Research is being done, surveys will be collected, and plans are being made now for 2024 spring trips that will be meaningful, interesting and fun. There is even talk about a pilgrimage trip to see three Marian Shrines in South Texas. A person does not have to be a member at the Center to participate in these trips.

Now that all the new restroom fixtures have been installed, Kridel has shifted her focus to the kitchen. A transition from plastic eating utensils will be implemented as a cost-saving initiative. Senior Connections has been using disposable utensils but is ready to make some changes. It is hard to cut a salad with a plastic knife, so with community funding, Kridel has obtained traditional forks and knives for members to use. Their debut will be at the Thanksgiving lunch.
