Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter statistics

As of April 20, total intake at the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter stood at 503 for the year – 249 dogs and 254 cats in need.As of April 20, the shelter had 95 animals in its care – 71 dogs and 24 cats.

National Day of Prayer Observance at First Baptist Church On the 73rd annual National Day of Prayer,Thursday, May 2, First Baptist Church, 110 North Upton, will open its doors to anyone who wants to set aside time to pray earnestly for the community, nation and world.

Benefit for Jimmy & Cindy Carter slated

A benefit barbecue pork steak dinner for Jimmy and Cindy Carter will be held on Friday, May 17 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.Tickets are $12 each for the drive-through only plates, which will include barbecue pork steak, buttered onion potatoes, pinto beans and pickle.

National Day of Prayer to be observed here

On the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 2, First Baptist Schulenburg will open the church doors from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for a time of prayer.A light breakfast will be offered from 7 to 8 a.m., followed by a time of corporate prayer from 8 to 8:30 a.m.

Decoration Day at Old High Hill Cemetery will be held on the same day, May 5. The Old High Hill Cemetery is located about three miles northwest of Schulenburg on FM 2672.The Old High Hill Cemetery Association Inc.
