City Council honors Shorthorn football team

A proclamation honoring the 2023 Shorthorn football team was read by Mayor Connie Koopmann at last week’s Schulenburg City Council meeting. Koopmann is shown above presenting the proclamation to head coach/Athletic Director Luke Hobbs with his son, Shane, alongside. The proclamation reads:

“WHEREA S, After a winless season the previous year, the Schulenburg Shorthorn football team accomplished an impressive turnaround; and WHEREA S, A determined group of young men, the team didn’t let past woes affect them as they achieved third place in District 13-2A Division 1; and WHEREA S, Their hard work, tenacity, and teamwork on the gridiron earned the Horns a playoff berth; and therefore, be it PROCLAIME D, That I, Mayor Connie Koopmann, and the citizens of Schulenburg, pay tribute to the 2023 Shorthorn football team, coaches, and managers for proudly representing their town by achieving a playoff appearance and bringing immense pride to their school, and community.”
