The last program in the 2022 multi-county new landowner series will take place on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Blinn College Rankin Ag Complex located at 1409 Old Mill Creek Road, Brenham. Topics to be covered are “Beekeeping Basics” and “Trees for Texas and Landowners.”
Beekeeping continues to be a hot topic, especially for medium to small acreage landowners. Before jumping in head-first and ordering equipment and a hive of bees, those interested are invited come learn what to expect. Information will be given on what it takes to raise honeybees in this area of Texas, as well some of the challenges and good solutions.
In addition to bees, a portion of the afternoon will be spent talking about trees. In Texas and especially this part of Texas, trees are a valuable commodity that landowners strive to keep healthy and vigorous. Information will be given about tree biology, how to recognize common tree problems, and how to manage for tree health. The program will “leaf” no question unanswered, discussing planting, pruning, watering, fertilizer, and insect and disease control. Two CEUs (one General and one IPM) will be offered for all licensed pesticide applicators.
