Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of May 10-16, officers responded to 110 calls for service and eight reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •May 11 – Officers Powe and Ellis responded to the 500th block of West Avenue in reference to terroristic threat.

LWV South Central Texas hold annual meeting

The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas (LWVSCTX) held its 2026 annual meeting on Sunday, May 17 at Shiner Central Station in Shiner. The afternoon combined a civic celebration, an inspiring performance and the business of setting the League’s course for the coming year.

EMS week proclaimed in Fayette County

The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation on Thursday, May 14 designating May 17-23 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Fayette County.

Food manager training course set

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Fayette County is offering a two-day professional food manager certification training course, “Food Safety: It’s Our Business,” on Monday and Tuesday, June 22-23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fayette County Ag Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, La Grange.

Fayette Co. Republican Women to meet May 20

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced on Wednesday, May 6 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.4 billion in local sales tax allocations for May, 7.7 percent more than in May 2025.
