Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced on Wednesday, April 8 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for April, 10.5 percent more than in April 2025.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Yoakum District invites the public to participate in an upcoming virtual public meeting regarding the 2027-2030 Rural Transportation Improvement Program (Rural TIP).

John Dodson (front), Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army, was recently presented a Quilt of Valor by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870. Dodson was not only a founding member and original officer of VVA Chapter 870 but is also a retired teacher in Schulenburg. Delivering the quilt to Dodson were VVA 870 members (back row, from left) Don Christen, Eugene Krupala, Daniel Kutac, Frank White, Gerald Smith and Andy Janda.
