GLO encourages hurricane preparedness

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., is encouraging all Texans to prepare for the 2023 hurricane season, which began Thursday, June 1 and runs through Thursday, Nov. 30.

June sales tax allocatons total $1.03 billion

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, June 7 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for June, 2 percent more than in June 2022.

US 77 to be closed June 19-23 south of La Grange for culvert replacement

The Texas Department of Transportation will start a project to rehabilitate the existing roadway on US 77, 0.4 miles south of La Grange, on Monday June 19, weather permitting.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded 81 calls for services and three reportable incidents were investigated during the week of June 3-9. Included were one illegal dumping, one assist agency and one arrest on multiple charges.

LG homes demolished thru ‘Harvey’ buyout

Residents in the River Drive and Country Club Drive area just south of La Grange near the Colorado River have seen a lot of demolition work recently. In the past few weeks, two more homes have been brought down and work on three more homes is under way.
