Young Farmers hay show entry deadline is Aug. 12

The Schulenburg Young Farmers will hold their 56th annual Hay Show on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and Thursday, Aug. 31 in conjunction with the Fayette County Fair in La Grange. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 at the Emily Fritsch Pavilion at the Fairgrounds. The hay sale will begin at 8 p.m.

Grant allows St. Mark’s to get imaging equipment

St. Mark’s Medical Center’s purchase and installation of multiple pieces of imaging equipment through a $500,000 grant from Fayette County has raised the facility’s capabilities, efficiency and patient safety.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 72 calls for services and five reportable incidents were investigated during the week of July 15-21. Included were one burglary of a residence, one burglary of a vehicle, one check fraud, theft and one runaway juvenile.

Constable Strickland attends training

Fayette County Precinct 4 Constable Jason Strickland recently completed a 40-hour continuing education course for constables at the prestigious Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT), located on the campus of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
