Farmer’s Almanac predicting a white winter As Texas gets at least a temporary reprieve this week from the heat, with a nice round of rain blanketing much of the state, the Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting January will bring significant snowfall to the state.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that officers responded to 73 calls for service and three reportable incidents were investigated during the week of Aug. 13-19. Included  were one DWI arrest,  one felon in possession of weapon arrest and one stolen vehicle. •Aug.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday, Aug. 10 he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 10.8 percent more than in August 2021.

Cocaine found during traffic stop near Ellinger

While patrolling the Ellinger area on Wednesday, Aug. 10 shortly after midnight, Deputy Austin Moore conducted a traffic stop on a blue Ford F-250 for an equipment violation, according to Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek.

Voter registration deadline for Nov. 8 General Election is Oct. 11

Texas Secretary of State John Scott encourages all eligible Texas voters to make sure they are registered to vote by Tuesday, Oct. 11 to participate in the Nov. 8 General Election. Texas law requires eligible voters to be registered 30 days before Election Day, and since the 30th day before Nov.

Texas gas prices lowest in nation While gas prices nationwide dropped below $4 per gallon average last week, the state boasts the lowest prices in the country at an average of $3.49 – 50 cents below the national average, according to AAA Texas.

Sheriff's Report

July 2022 Sheriff Keith Korenek reports these activities of Fayette County deputies for July.  Detective  Marc Bennett is actively investigating several sexual assault cases which occurred in Fayette County. Several cases are being presented to a Grand Jury for indictment.  Sgt.
