The Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation which declares June 19 as Emancipation Day in Fayette County, during its regular meeting held on Thursday, May 23. The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by President Abraham Lincoln on Jan. 1,1863.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports that during the week of May 12-18, officers responded to 70 calls for service and five reportable incidents were investigated as follows: •May 12 – Sgt. Roggenkamp responded to the 1200th block of South Street in reference to terroristic threat.
