Emergency preparedness sales tax holiday slated

Coinciding with the severe weather season, Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 29.

‘Silver & Safe’ class for mature drivers

The “Silver Drivers Safe Texans” program will be offered at two locations in Fayette County on Thursday, June 13. The first workshop will be hosted from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl St., La Grange in the general assembly room.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Wednesday, April 10 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for April, 5.5 percent more than in April 2023.
