March sales tax allocations issued

Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Wednesday, March 6 that he was sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $980.9 million in local sales tax allocations for March, 2.2 percent less than in March 2023.

Fayette Co. Republican conventions set Mar. 23

The Fayette County Republican Party will conduct all precinct conventions and its county convention on Saturday, March 23 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Texas A&MAgrilife Extension building located at 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.

Warda residents briefly evacuate due to gas leak

Residents in the Warda area of Fayette County were asked to briefly evacuate their residences Monday evening, March 4. According to Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller, a natural gas leak occurred around 7 p.m. in the area of Giese Lane in Warda.

Massive wildfires ignited by power lines Two wildfires that burned more than 1 million acres in the Panhandle were caused by downed power lines, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

Republican Women to meet Mar. 20

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 20 at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Drive in La Grange, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check.

In the March 5 Primary Elections, 12.92% of Texas voters cast their ballots in the Republican presidential race (2,318,285 of Texas’ 17,948,242 registered voters) and 5.43% of Texas voters cast their ballots in the Democrat presidential race (974,989 of Texas’ 17,948,242 registered voters).

HHSC warns about scammers targeting Lone Star Card

The Texas Health & Human Services Commission is receiving an increasing number of complaints about a phone scam targeting clients who use Lone Star Cards and receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
