Unemployment rates for state, county inch down in August

The Texas Workforce Commission released labor market statistics for August last week and they showed that the statewide seasonally-adjusted unemployment fell 0.1 of a percent to 4.4, slightly higher than the nationwide rate of 4.1 percent.

VFDs respond to three fire calls on Sept. 8

Firefighters had a busy day last Tuesday, Sept. 8 with three different calls within a period of just over six hours.Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that dispatchers received several 911 calls around 10:51 a.m.
