Atlin Frank Gabler, 81, of Schulenburg, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2024.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1942 in Schulenburg to his parents, Elsa and Alfred Gabler. Atlin married Dorothy Klesel on Feb. 25, 1962 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Atlin was a very hardworking person who found joy in various aspects of life. He graduated from Schulenburg High School and went on to a fulfilling career. At different points in life, Atlin served as Fayette County Constable, Atlin and Dorothy owned Gabler’s Fried Chicken, and Atlin owned and operated Gabler’s Catering with his brother Milton Gabler. He also worked at UTEX Industries and cherished the relationships he formed at all of these businesses.

In his free time, Atlin enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, hog-hunting and family camping trips. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Atlin is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gabler; daughters, Debbie Akridge of Austin, Susie Kalich and her husband Harold of Schulenburg, and Missy Rerich and her husband Paul of Weimar; grandchildren, Sasha Akridge, Trey Akridge, Joshua Kalich, Trevor Kalich, Kendra Neskora, Brandi Rerich and Dustin Rerich; seven great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Janice Gabler Fonokalafi of Channelview and Steve Gabler of Schulenburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers. A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The family received friends beginning at 8:30 a.m. with the parish rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment followed in St. Rose Cemetery.
