Eugene Alois Wick, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

He was born on July 1, 1933, on a farm in High Hill to Charles and Hilda (Demel) Wick. After graduating from Schulenburg High School, he moved to San Antonio to pursue a career in Accounting and Business Management. After service in the United States Army, he returned to San Antonio and was employed by Samuels Glass Company for 43 years. He was a member of the San Antonio Founder Lions Club for 33 years. He married Barbara O’Dell in 1958 and during their 64 years of marriage he became the father of three children, grandfather to seven grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to one. At their second home in Rockport, he spent many hours each night on their pier on Copano Bay fishing for trout, flounder and redfish.

Eugene was preceded in death by his wife Barbara; parents Charles and Hilda Wick; sister Loretta Squires; son-in-law David Flaharty; brother-inlaw Matthew Wueste; and nephew Michael Wick.

He is survived by his daughter Lynne Newman and husband Terry; son David Wick and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Jennifer Schoonover and husband Edward J., great-grandson Logan; grandson Christopher and wife Camryn; son Philip Wick and wife Erica, grandchildren Emily, Caitlin, Kieran, Rhiannon and Sawyer; brother-in-law Donald Squires; sister Marcella Wueste; brother Marvin Wick and wife Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A rosary and memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio.
