Evelyn Ann (Golsch) Cernoch of Weimar passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020 in Weimar.

She was born on Jan. 8, 1932 to Theo A. and Mary B. (Hessler) Golsch in Hallettsville. She was the middle child of seven children, including three brothers and three sisters. She went to Sacred Heart Catholic School through the 10th grade and graduated high school from Hallettsville High School. Evelyn married August John Cernoch of Weimar on April 20, 1953 in Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville and moved to Weimar.

She was a homemaker and mother. Her vocation in life was a seamstress working from her home for more than 50 years. Her talent for sewing dresses, gowns, twirler and cheerleader uniforms was well known. She especially loved to make wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses, and her talent brought joy to many brides. She was an active participant in her children’s school activities serving as room mother and helped with school sports activities. She was a devoted Catholic, and lifelong member of St. Michael’s Parish in Weimar. Once her children were grown, she became a volunteer Colorado County ambulance corps member and served with them for 19 years. Amongst her favorite pastimes were her grandchildren, especially birthdays, Easter and Christmas. She and August enjoyed dancing and socializing with their many friends. Evelyn and August loved to travel and saw much of the United States on their car trips.

She is the mother of four children: Kathy Buxkamper and husband David of Katy, Joyce Bacak and husband Lee J. of Schulenburg, Gary Cernoch of Weimar, and Patricia Cernoch of Houston. She has four grandchildren: Patrick Bacak, Lee J. Bacak Jr., Adam Buxkamper and Sarah Buxkamper.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, August J. Cernoch; parents, Theo and Mary Golsch; brothers, Hilbert and Seigfreid (Fritzi) Golsch; and one sister, Irene Carley.

She is survived by sisters Gertrude Shimek and husband Roman of Hallettsville and Beatrice (Bea) Wyatt and husband Hubbard of Hallettsville, and one brother, Ted (Theodore) Golsch and wife Lyda of Bulverde. Evelyn is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, and at church Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020 from 9 to 10:00 a.m. Parish prayer service and rosary was Nov. 4, 2020 at 7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home. Funeral service was Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, with Fr. Wayne Flagg officiating. Burial followed at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Weimar.

Pallbearers were Patrick Bacak, Lee Bacak Jr., Dennis Golsch, Greg Shimek, Daryl Golsch and Ricky Cernoch. Honorary pallbearers were Adam Buxkamper and Troy Kainer.
