Evelyn E. Valis, 88, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 in Hallettsville.

She was born Oct. 15, 1932 in Nada to Emil and Bertha Wesselski. Since 2012, she resided in Schulenburg, originally at College Place Assisted Living and later moved to Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center.

She lived in Rosenberg her entire married life where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She retired after a long career as a telephone operator with SW Bell and AT&T. She married Lodie Valis in 1956 in Nada. Lodie passed away in Rosenberg in April 2008.

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Kay Wesselski of Ganado and Dorothy Wesselski of Alvin. Survivors also include nieces and nephews – Kenneth and Barbara Dittrich of Spring Valley, Minn.; Marilyn and Tom Svec, Daniel and Mary Dittrich, Barbara and Charles Cernoch, Cynthia and Thomas Miksch, and Janice Grahmann, all of Schulenburg; Mike and Sherry Dittrich of La Grange; Ronald Wesselski of Nada; Brendan Wesselski of Ganado; Ryan and Terra Wesselski of Rosenberg; Mark and Melody Wesselski of Rosharon; and Karen and Richard Waller of Bartlesville, Okla. – as well as great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Edwin and Clarence Wesselski; and her sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Joe Dittrich of Schulenburg.

Graveside services were held at the Davis Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg following a rosary on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. Arrangements were under the direction of Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, phone 281-341-8800.
