Joyce Marie Casiraghi Besetsny was born Jan. 10, 1935 to Italian immigrants, Arturo Casiraghi and Louisa (Pasquali) Casiraghi, and welcomed by her big brother “Sonny” !

She grew up in West Austin, in the community known as Clarksville, and attended St Mary’s Academy in her younger years, later graduating from Austin High School in 1952. In 1955, she married Bennie Preece of Austin, and they had four children. Later in life, she would marry and move to the small town of Schulenburg, where she would live for 42 years, with her late husband, Clifford Besetsny.

Joy and Cliff enjoyed their life together operating several local hot spots in the ‘Burg! They had many friends and loved everything that living in a small town afforded. After Cliff’s passing, the family moved Joy to Round Rock, where she lived for five years until her passing.

Joy is survived by her four children – sons, Scott (Geneva) Preece of Round Rock, Ronald (Debbie) Preece of Schulenburg, and Stephen (Cat) Preece of Waco, and daughter, Angela (Vince) Thompson of Round Rock. Also surviving are13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will be hosting a celebration of Joy’s life in Schulenburg at a date that will be posted soon (it will be in April.)
